Working in Tables

Most of the interactive information you’ll work with in Engagement Knowledge Coach is provided in tables. The most common interactive elements you will find in these tables are listed below:

  • Answer selection buttons allow you to click a specific answer, such as Yes or No.
  • Text boxes allow you to enter a custom answer. Pale gray prompt text displays in text boxes that allow you to enter content. Click Tab or click outside the text box after entering your content.
  • Actions menus are accessed by clicking for an item and allow you to see a list of additional optiosns.

Notes

  • For some questions, answers are recommended based on how you have responded to other questions. “(Recommended)” displays after the suggested choice. If you do not select a recommended answer, a Potential Error diagnostic is generated for the question. See Diagnostics for more information.
  • Table headers will freeze when scrolling inside the table if there are fewer than 13 columns in the table. Tables with 13 or more columns will not freeze the table headers when scrolling in them.

Tip: Instead of using your mouse, you can use the following keyboard shortcuts to navigate questions:

  • Press Tab on your keyboard to move to the next box or table cell.
  • Press Shift + Tab to move backwards or to the previous box or cell.
  • Press the Spacebar to toggle a check box control or select an option in an answer selection box.

Cells with Open Diagnostics

Some cells and tables might have open diagnostics associated with them. These could be caused by an unanswered question, a program step that is not signed off, or a potential error, among other reasons. The diagnostic displays in-line in the actual cell that is affected to let you know what the problem is. For more information, see Diagnostics.

Note: Diagnostics refresh periodically as you work. However, if you think a particular diagnostic should be cleared and you are still seeing an open diagnostic, click Refresh on the right navigation menu to refresh the diagnostics manually.

Cells that Flow Information To or From Other Areas

To save you time and protect consistent information, Engagement Knowledge Coach automatically flows some information you provide to other forms. Cells that flow information from another area are not editable. Instead, you must modify the information in the source document so the information is the same in both places.

Data that flows from another source displays a icon next to it. In many cases, you can drill down to the source of the information by clicking this icon. This launches the form that contains the original question and places your focus in the cell the information flowed from by displaying a green highlight box around the cell answer. You can also right-click this icon and select to open the form in a new tab or a new window to keep your existing form open.

When information is updated in one form and flows to another form, additional diagnostics prompting you to complete more information in the affected form might display. For more information, see Diagnostics.

Form Tables

Many Knowledge Coach tables have the structure of a “form table,” in which you add as many rows as you need to accommodate the information you have or the number of specialists you have involved in the engagement.

To add rows to these kinds of tables, do the following:

  1. Click in a text box in the table that displays the prompt text "Type here to add an item."
  2. Type relevant information in the cell.
  3. Tab to the next cell in the table. Knowledge Coach automatically adds another empty row below the one that contains your information.
  4. Complete the other cells in the row you have added, as applicable.

Findings Tables

A Findings table is a special kind of table. They are found in several documents, including each of the substantive audit programsClosed The 800 series of forms, whose index number and name are specific for each title. These include AUD-800 Audit Program – (Custom) through AUD-822 Business Combinations.. If you use the Form Identified In field in the risk pane, the risk shows in the respective findings tables when applicable.

To protect the integrity of risk information throughout Engagement Knowledge Coach forms, you cannot add risks directly in a Findings table. For more information, see Form Tables (above) and Using the Risk Summary Page.
